Fabric is measured in a variety of ways, most of which are meant to provide a guideline of quality.

1. In the USA, fabric weight is commonly referred to as a ‘number’ of ounces per square yard. If you took a piece of the fabric that measured exactly 1 square yard (36" by 36") it would weigh a certain number of ounces, e.g. PikiCentral’s Standard 100% Cotton T weighs 6.1oz.
2. In Europe, Asia, Australia and most of the rest of the world fabric weight is measured as number of grams per square meter of fabric (GSM) .1 square meter of fabric (approx 39" by 39"), in the case of PikiCentral’s Standard 100% Cotton T the weight would be 207 g/m2.
3. Canada on the other hand, has a third scale which measures in Ounces per linear yard. A Linear yard (for this purpose is 36" long and 60" wide) – therefore PikiCentral’s Standard 100% Cotton T would weigh 10.1oz.
